The first set of trolls brought us ones dressed and armed as warriors, the second brought ones in harness and throwing rocks or hauling equipment, and this time we get trolls with weapons but with minimal clothing and no armour. To our eye these look the closest to those seen in the film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012), although these have a scaly skin which does not seem to be the case in the film. The major difference of course is these are carrying, and using, enormous weapons, any one of which could spell the end of a dwarf or hobbit. They range from the crude tree branch with a metal spike nailed to it, to the very elaborate mace and the equally complex hammer, which has spikes all along the handle for no discernible reason.

All are clearly in action, holding their weapon in a threatening way and snarling horribly. They are about the same size as the previous two sets, so about 50 mm in height fully upright, and equally thick and stocky. The sculpting is again great, with a lot of effort going into the skin texture, the faces and the weapons. The poses too are not as flat as the usual efforts we so often see, and all are suitable for a melee or a charge. There is hardly any flash on them, so this is another very satisfying collection of nicely-done trolls, though it is a shame that you only get four admittedly large figures in the box.
