Review

During the Polish-Soviet War of 1919 to 1920 Poland captured a great many Russian 76.2mm M1902 field guns, which were then pressed into service with their new masters. With limited stocks of Russian shells and a desire to standardise artillery calibres on the French model, between 1926 and 1930 most of these guns were converted to 75mm calibre, and referred to as wz.1902/26, the model we have here. This gun was the standard weapon of the mounted artillery from the mid-1920s until defeat and occupation in 1939, but numbers were also used by artillery platoons in infantry regiments, and there were over 400 in service when the German and Soviets attacked.

The set contains a single gun kit. This is in the usual hard plastic and is a very high quality and detailed kit, taking no less than 23 parts to construct the weapon. Every little sight, adjusting wheel and accessory has been included, and we found everything fitted perfectly and looked great. As a result this is not the simplified gun often found in this hobby, so it takes some time and patience to construct, but the result is really worth it, and as far as we can see from photographs of the original it is entirely accurate too.

So this is a lovely little kit for a gun that saw plenty of action during the campaign of 1939, and was also used by the Germans later in the war when artillery became scarce.
